TESTIMONIALS ABOUT CREAGAN MHOR

Thank you so so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home, we had a wonderful and special holiday. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed it and Glenelg, they said they could now understand why Brian and I loved the whole area so much and why we kept returning. The memories of that lovely week will stay with us for a long long time. And we got to see an otter on our last morning!

‘We really loved coming back to Creagan Mhor this year: it’s a perfect house in a perfect location for our large family gathering.’

Dowse Family, July 19

We have had an absolutely brilliant time in the Highlands, your house and the surrounding area are sooo beautiful!  Thank you !

We swam every day, morning and eve at the beach by the house which was magical. Yesterday we walked to Sandaig FROM the house !!  We all got rather tired but it was so worth it. The swim there was stunning despite the howling rain and wind, with the white sand and turquoise water not to mention the millions of shells. The first day the weather was amazing and we swam in the Fairy Pools and walked at the Quaraing on Skye. It was so lovely to have you warm, comfortable and beautiful house to come back to.

Our family group age range was from 3 to 83 years and everyone loved the week at Creagan Mhor. The house was ideal and the situation beautiful. We were blessed with lovely weather that allowed us to fully enjoy the area and scenery.

Many thanks.

Just wanted to say huge thank you for letting us enjoy your wee bit of paradise!! Everyone loved the house and its fantastic location. I think it has been one of our best finds and certainly made our holiday. The house is so well appointed with everything you could possibly need.  We were lucky enough to have 4 days of 23-25 degrees but even the remaining rainy days didn't stop us!

Rennie Family , July 2017

Creagan Mhor is a beautiful house, furnished and equipped to a very high standard. It has a cosy, homely feel but with more than enough space for a large group. Ideally situated very close to the beach and an easy walk to the Glenelg Inn, shop and kids play park. We (6 adults and 4 kids) had a fantastic holiday - walking, visiting Skye and the surrounding area and also wildlife spotting. Deer, white tailed eagle, pine martin and seals all spotted but sadly no otters - maybe next time!

Walker Family , May 2017

Just wanted to say we had an absolutely brilliant time at Creaghan Mhor last week. What a magical place.  Kids and dogs were in heaven and the lack of WIFI most of the time was actually a blessing rather than a hindrance.  The house is perfect for big friendly getaways and the pub was great with delicious food.

Jones and Gibson Families , April 2017

I wanted to write and thank you for our very special time in your welcoming and beautiful, cosy house. We had a fantastic holiday with the family and celebrating my fathers 90th couldn't have been better. He especially loved sitting upstairs scanning the sea with his binoculars and recounting various tales of other adventures. We even got him down the path onto the beach for some stone skimming. Wonderful memories shared. Thank you.

Just back from a terrific holiday, weather varied from Arctic to Tropical, Skye was in and out of view, the midges were out with their thermals on. We had family gather from all over the world and the house was just fab. We all agreed that it's the best in Glenelg and we have rented a few over the last 40 years. Very much hope to stay there again one year.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Creagan Mhor, thank you for the opportunity to stay in your wonderful house. It was the perfect amount of space for our party, ideal for children and we felt the toddlers were pretty safe in the house. The kitchen was so well equipped and huge and wonderful to spend time in in the evenings and the beds were extremely comfortable. Views were incredible, situation ideal, all in all a fantastic week. Only negative was the sea was too rough at that time to do much boating- not your fault!! We hope to come back in the not too distant future.

Creagan Mhor is a fabulous home (I use that word deliberately) in an idyllic location – it’s exciting arriving there. It’s large enough to accommodate more than one family, but equally the space was luxuriously comfortable for just the two of us.

We used the house as a base for us to explore Skye via the Glenelg Community Ferry (lovely friendly people) – Elgol and Point of Sleat; and the glens – Gleann Lichd and Glen Affric. After long days exploring and walking, Creagan Mhor was perfect to return to. Hot water was constant and the large bath was run to soothe aching limbs. The woodstore was full and fuel was plentiful. With the fire lit, supper on the go in a fantastically appointed, spacious kitchen that wanted for nothing, we relaxed and tuned into our books or Sky TV.

The garden is secure and offers easy access to Glenelg beach which had the dog bursting with excitement. It was the perfect getaway from our busy lives, and one to which we shall return.

Clapham, April 2016

Our family and large group of friends have a tradition of heading off to the West Highlands or Scottish Islands every April. This can be a magical time of year, with a mixture of sunshine and showers, and everything springing to life – but with the great advantage of no midges !

Over a period of nearly 40 years we’ve rented many, many holiday homes, but Creagan Mhor is without doubt one of the finest we’ve ever stayed in – comfortable, warm, spacious, well equipped and lots of homely touches which really make it special. We loved reading the children’s poems ! The two bedrooms in the ‘extension’ came in particularly handy as our family, with 8 month old grandson, could be close to friends without causing any disturbance.

Glenelg is a great base for exploring many nooks and crannies in Kintail and Skye. We particularly liked the fjord-like Loch Hourn, and the spectacular Falls of Glomach.

Even the fussiest person would be hard pushed to find fault with this lovely house. The only criticism we heard all week (in jest, of course) was that the huge kitchen provided all the exercise we needed without having to venture outside!

Gainey family and friends (Edinburgh), April 2016

Stayed in this amazing house in May 2015.  Having been to several lovely places in the highlands over several decades we were eagerly anticipating getting to Creagan Mhor.  This beautiful house in the most spectacular of settings did not disappoint.  The views are unparalleled, even in this halcyon part of the world, especially the spectacular vista down the unpromisingly named ‘Sound of Sleat’.

The House is brilliantly arranged with a kitchen that can cater for large numbers with ease (and in great comfort – our multitude of young children simply loved it) and a lovely attached dining room for late dinners.  The fire in the drawing room is a constant comfort on rainy days and the multitude of bedrooms and bathrooms could hardly be better (endless hot water and lovely fresh pressed linen everywhere).  Oddly my favourite room was the back pantry/drying room where extra fridges, washing machines and drying facilities make staying in this large house all the more easy (even when it does rain every day as it did when we were there).

There are so many things to do from this house that our stay was action packed – I particularly recommend getting a boat trip arranged through Nigel on ‘Spirit of Adventure’ which runs out of Kyle.  There are countless excellent walks to be undertaken from Creagan Mhor and the 15 minute walk away shop and pub are both very good. This has to be one of the best houses to take of its kind - I cannot wait to go back.

Warrack Family, May 2015

We had an amazing time. We climbed big hills in snow and saw some of the most amazing rainbows.  The house was completely lovely and we would love to come and stay again some time.

Cosgrave Family, Easter 2015

Thank you for the use of your wonderful house - from the youngest to the eldest, it was considered the best holiday we’ve had together to date - and there have been many!

We were blessed with brilliant weather - 5 days of warm sunshine and two fresh days which were changeable but equally lovely - and not a midge in sight.

We hill-walked, swam in the sea, fished, and picnicked on the beach - not the activities that you usually ascribe to Scotland in October!

Smith Family, Autumn 2014

We all had a wonderful time at Glenelg!!!!! Beautiful place. Thank you so much for letting us share your little bit of paradise. The weather was great for Skye. A real mixture, hot to pouring!!! We went to the Fairy Pools, rock climbing, out on a speedboat, up a Munroe and nearly got to the top but tiredness defeated the youngest, cycling to the Brochs, BBQs on beach,  we saw jellyfish (lots), seals., otters and porpoises, had food in the Inn (lots) and very special evening of live Gaelic music! .

Appleby Family, Summer 2014

We are having the most wonderful holiday in your home and for us it's home from home. We would love to book with you again for next year.

Agnew and Hadden-Wight Family, Summer 2014

The house is beautiful as well as being comfortable and accommodating.  When we arrived it all felt very welcoming, including the pretty Easter decorations.  The setting is splendid, with sea views towards Skye on one side, and Glenelg and Sandaig on the other.  There is a good sized garden and a little beach just down the path from the garden gate.  The house has a spacious, open feel, and is very warm.  It is all decorated in lovely colours with comfortable furniture and beds, and everything worked.  We booked straight away for this year and we’re looking forward to another good week.”

Bob and Joanna Simpson – Easter 2014

There were munros bagged and also a great deal of wildlife watching. We saw otters in the bay, porpoises beyond Corran, the sea eagle at Kylerea and lots of seals. We also visited the brochs, hired bikes and went to the tearoom and the pub for dinner one night. All great apart from numerous ticks! I have been going to the highlands since I was small because my father was a Scot, a low lander who loved the highlands. We look forward to the highlands again next year.

Fiona White – April 2014

We had the most wonderful time at Creagan Mhor and didn't want to come home and that included the teenagers! The house was fabulously comfortable and everything of a very high standard. Although we brought some pumpkins, it was a lovely touch to have some on the doorstep as we arrived. We have been gushing about the house and area to all our friends and will hopefully rebook in the future. Thanks so much for all your communications and for making everything so straight forward.

Robins family - Autumn 2013

...To be honest, I think of the house every day - waking up in that lovely bed overlooking the sea was amazing, the cosyness of the house, the views! But it is daily life back in Copenhagen and even though we live at a very special place in the center of Copenhagen surrounded by the harbour and the canals and Christianshavn, I miss your house and its views.

Frederiksen family from Denmark, Autumn 2013

We had a fantastic week at Creagan Mhor. The house is warm, cosy, extremely comfortable and fitted out to the highest standard. It is located right on the beach with the most oustanding views across the Sound of Sleat. It was a great base for our family and friends to get together, with more than enough room for everybody. We fished, walked & relaxed, Glenelg is a real 'get away from it all' location and I would highly recommend Creagan Mhor - we hope to return again soon.

Susan Phillips - June 2013

We are home tired and happy after a brilliant week in your house at Glenelg. We found the house incredibly comfortable and well equipped. It was the perfect base for a group of friends to stay.

Law Family – July 2013

The weather could not have been better and the house and grounds were perfect. It really did have that ‘wow’ factor as we came down the drive on the first day! The midge hats were definitely a nice touch. Thanks for a great holiday,

Hayhurst Family - July 2013

"Creagan Mhor is everything you want on a Highland holiday!  The house is beautiful, well equipped with everything you need, cosy, luxurious, fantastic views, - you can't help being relaxed within the first half hour of arriving. It's truly the place to stop, stand and stare"!

Riddolls Family - May 2013

Thought I would drop you a note to thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay at your wonderful house. Everybody was thoroughly impressed with both the house and the location, we all had an amazing time...and even the weather was pretty good too!

Greg Whitton, May 2012

"We really did not want to leave. We have been visiting Scotland for the last 17 years at Easter and I can honestly say your house is one of, if not the best we have stayed at, helped by wonderful sunny weather every day, even got a tan walking! The location is just magical, it took my breath away. We have stayed in Knoydart a couple of years ago and lots of other locations in the west highlands but Glenelg has a quality all of its own...beautiful and unspoilt. The house is very comfortable and well equipped for the eleven of us, felt like home from home, each window has a view which is like looking at a painting."

Toropaz Family, Easter 2013

We had an absolutely fantastic week at Creagan Mhor, and all three generations got to the beach, climbed mountains and saw otters, seals, red deer etc. The weather was extremely kind, and our three eldest children (twins @ 15 and one @ 12) saw fit to swim on a regular basis.

Walking around Corran was particularly lovely. It is wonderful to stay in a proper family cottage filled with books and pictures, and the Easter decorations were great. We will definitely recommend the house to others.

Russel Family, Easter 2012

Your house was beautiful, and in a lovely spot. We had a great weekend - hillwalking and beach walking. Thank you very much. I will recommend the house to others and might make another booking in the future!

Hayne Family, March 2012

Just a quick note to say what a wonderful time we had last week at Creagan Mhor. The house was just perfect and the setting was stunning. The sun shone on us every day and we had a truly wonderful week. Thank you so much!

Pearson Family, May 2012

Just wanted to say we had a fabulous time last week at your place. The weather was great: virtually flat calm and warm with high clouds and sun some days. We were extremely comfortable!
